Today, I had a dream that my ex-boyfriend had become a vicious serial killer and was hunting me down because I broke up with him. I don't know what scares me more: the way he hunted me in my sleep, or the fact that it wouldn't surprise me if it actually happened. FML

Today, my anxiety has been so bad, I have had vivid dreams of my boyfriend of 6 months cheating on me. This is not the first time these dreams have happened, and I know for a fact he is not cheating. My anxiety is going to turn me into the crazy girlfriend from hell. FML

Today, I dreamed that I cheated on my boyfriend. I was so overwhelmed with guilt that I called him while half-asleep to tell him about it and apologize. I'm fully awake now and he doesn't believe it was really a dream. FML

Today, I woke up with a scream of pain to find the reason I've had so many realistic dreams lately: my boyfriend has been messing with me in my sleep because he thinks my reactions are funny. For instance, when he pinched me today, I experienced a very realistic wasp sting in my dream. FML

Today, I had such a realistic dream that I was about to be hanged by the neck until I was dead. I was dropped through the hole and I felt the noose snap my neck at the exact moment I woke up. I ended up crying in my wife’s arms for a solid five minutes. Now I’m afraid to sleep, maybe forever. FML

Today, my boyfriend broke up with me after 4 perfectly happy years together. The reason? He had a dream in which his dead former girlfriend from when he was 13 told him she still loved him. It shocks me how many people suggest a restraining order. Last time I checked, you couldn't get a restraining order because you had a bad dream about someone!!

I think restraining orders are being suggested based on the assumption that he's actually a threatening person. If OP truly fears for her safety, it's not totally unreasonable to assume that he may have done something in the past to warrant a restraining order.

OP, best of luck. Trust your instincts. I was advised to write down (with time, date, place) everything I remembered that was possible trouble; to give a copy to a trusted person (and lawyer, if you have one), tell others you trust of your concern, and contact the cops (and/or lawyer) for advice. Your state/local law enforcement may have websites/hotlines for advice.
