Today, I had a food allergy test done because of an ugly acne upswing, and after over a year of vegetarianism, I find out that I'm allergic to soy. FML

Today, I tried to blow my girlfriend's vegan parents minds by cooking them a tofu stir-fry. Being allergic to tofu but wanting to prove my cooking skills, I wore gloves and avoided touching my face. Somehow, I still managed to get it in my eye, causing an allergic reaction that made my face swell up like a balloon. Now her parents think I'm some sort of Martian. FML

People, seriously, shut the hell up on hating vegetarians. It's a personal choice, and if they're not pushing it on you, then you have no right to be pushing them to eat meat. There are entire countries with the majority of it's people being vegetarian. Do you hate on them? And I really doubt some of you are !00% carnivores. You can't survive on just meat, just so you know. There are other things you can eat besides soy products, and there are other alternatives. Also, you guys aren't being witty or funny with your comments saying, "Oh too bad, just go eat a steak and get over it." You're just sounding like an idiot.

#9: Learn how to comprehend what you read. She was having outbreaks BECAUSE she has been eating soy for the past year. #194: Eat a STAKE? really? I believe you mean a steak, not an apparatus used to tether tents to the ground. That sucks! Try using products (like fake chicken nuggets) that are made out of Quinoa. I believe the Amy's brand makes some fake meat products out of quinoa. The anti-vegetarian comments are both sad and hilarious.

Woah, that must suck. I imagine if you ate it for a whole year, you must be in pretty bad shape now :( I say FYL, but not really - there are many things you could be eating for protein beside soy. I know, easy for me to say since I eat lots of soy, but I think if you eat nuts, mushrooms, potatoes, rice, etc, that should do it. There are many vegetarian recipes out there for consistent dishes without soy. Get well :)

#224 / Xboxman: I don't need an excuse to eat meat. I like it, and it's good for me. If you don't like it, don't eat it.

YDI for being a vegetarian. How could you not notice for a whole year that you are allergic to soy?

yeah, sorry, but this is why vegetarianism is stupid. god made the animals for us to eat them, and our bodies were designed to thrive on veggies AND meat. the whole reason your brain is as big as it is is because your ancestors ate meat. stop crying about whether or not your food had a face and give your body the nutrients it needs.

I don't understand vegetarians who go for fake meat as a direct substitute for the meat they've been eating, to be honest. I had a friend do that and I was like, "You became a vegetarian to get away from meat and now you're shoving the fake stuff in your mouth like it's candy. All that salt can't be good for you." She also only ate just bread and like two other vegetables. Needless to say, she's not a very good vegetarian. But I don't mind people who do vegetarianism the "right" way... meaning you eat your vegetables and get a nice variety of food.
