Today, I had a mild allergic reaction from eating pasta salad. I told my mom that I might be allergic to the parsley, since it was the only ingredient that I don't eat often. She made me eat a sprig of it to "make sure." Now my face is covered in hives. FML

Today, I tried to blow my girlfriend's vegan parents minds by cooking them a tofu stir-fry. Being allergic to tofu but wanting to prove my cooking skills, I wore gloves and avoided touching my face. Somehow, I still managed to get it in my eye, causing an allergic reaction that made my face swell up like a balloon. Now her parents think I'm some sort of Martian. FML

She should have just takin you to a doctor instead of just testing.

Well now you know for sure. Though seriously, as someone with a ton of allergies just go get the shots.

OP - FYL, but you still need to learn how to stand up to your mum.

She just wanted to make sure it was the parsley, I mean she could have had added another ingredient you didn't know about or you could have developed an allergy to a product you frequently had (happened to someone I know). So now that you know it's parsley, go to the doctors, but still FYL.

Your mother is really stupid sorry to say. What is she a teen? Doesn't even know how to do a proper allergy test.

I feel sorry for you, OP. But that IS the most efficient way to get find out if you're allergic to something. Most of the times, doctors can't tell it just by hearing your symptoms.

Exactly, and doctors visits, tests etc would have been expensive. Some people can't afford that kinda stuff...

Instead of eating it you could have rubbe it against your hand or wrist to see if a rash came afterwards.

Why didn't she just take you to get an allergy test done at the doctor's office. You wouldn't have broken out in hives then.
