Today, I have a UTI. After taking some sample medicine my doctor gave to me, I had a lot of back pain and nausea. I also spent 6 hours in the ER with no health insurance because I thought I was urinating blood. Nope, "peeing red" is just a little side-effect my doctor forgot to inform me of. FML

You do realize that you're supposed to read the side effects part right ..... The doctor should assume that you have a brain and can read.

yeah it says very plainly on the packaging for Azo that it will cause discoloration of your urine...when i get UTIs there's blood in my urine anyway, that's part of the infection. they're terrible. am i the only one who calls someone, like my mom or a friend, who has had a similar problem to get opinions on whether what i'm experiencing is normal? i mean it's a bit embarassing but it beats sitting at the ER for so long, especially with no insurance.

thats why you read the literature that is inside the package or sometimes its even given to you as a print out from the drugstore....if all else fails google the side effects before you BLINDLY shove drugs down your throat

yeah, because that's always full proof. oh, no, it's okay, google told me i'm supposed to be peeing red.

it's better to have some idea than no idea at all, whether the source is reliable or not. and it's FOOL proof.

Think of the possibilities! Treat your friends to some "red wine" or "fruit punch"!

Ive heard the best thing for a UTI is Alka Selzer. youre just supposed to take 2 one day and 2 the next day and boom, its done. no bloody pee. try it. youre welcome.

Or you have the "male period"

You know those little inserts that come with drugs? You're supposed to READ them.

.... you know... calling your doctor on the phone is free.

"Pyridium [of of the meds doctors prescribe for UTI's] colors urine red or orange and may stain fabrics or contact lenses-this is a normal occurrence." Taken directly from the pill bottle I had when I got a UTI.

It was actually smart of you to go to the ER because back pain with a UTI could be a kidney infection.
