Today, I learned that ice cubes do not cool down hot oil. Instead, it causes a massive explosion of hot grease to splatter all over my parents' kitchen. FML

you're a ******* moron. have you ever put water on hot oil? did you know ice is water?

I did that once except it was boiling candle wax that was in a pot on the stove, and I set it in the sink. the first drop to ht it set off an explosion an I got hot wax all over the counter, the sink, the window, and my arms. it took hours to partially remove.

seriously you people are Moronic idiots not to know hot oil and ice aka water do not mix only a complete idiot would even put the two together!!!! stay out of the kitchen

That's got to be one of the stupidest things I've heard in quite awhile. Water and hot oil do not mix. YDI.

and what gave u the idea ice would cool down some boiling oil?

That's one of the funnier things I've read in a while - thank you ;o) Secondly - don't you *love* all the genius experts *after* the fact? "... Anybody knows..." hmmmm... Finally - I'm curious: why did you put ice cubes in hot oil? You were trying to cool the oil down I guess, but... why??

when the water hits the grease it evaporates extremmely fast forcing the oil to move extremmely fast. water on grease fire equals very bad times
