Today, I volunteered to be my brother's designated driver. I told him throughout the night that I wasn't drinking, but he ended up leaving me at the bar and going to his friend's house in a cab for more drinks, taking my keys along with him. FML

Today, I passed my driver's test. My instructor took the learner signs off his car and let me drive back to my place. I guess he didn't bet on me crashing the car just a few blocks from the test center. FML

Today, I was designated driver for my friends. This entailed standing around in the cold for 3 hours, not drinking, dealing with drunk people, and oh yeah, I almost forgot, cleaning up vomit from my hair, my clothes, and my new car. FML

Today, I hit someone’s car and got arrested for a DUI. I had to tell my parents so they could remove me from the insurance. My mom's response in the background after I told my dad was "I knew it." FML

I love how everyone who has pointed out that it is illegal for someone with a learner's permit to be a designated driver is thumbed down. No matter how much you don't like that fact it is very, very illegal. OP: Point this out to your drunk-ass family. Don't risk your own ability to get a full driver's license for those dumb-asses.

That's to be expected. Happened to me when I was old enough to drive. Old enough to drive but too young to party. Have fun. You can do the same to your kids some day.
