Just for clarification, I always wash my hands before I use a tampon, but in this case it was an emergency, if you get what I mean by that. I also didn't have the kind that uses an applicator available so I had to actually put my hands up there for the tampon to function properly.

I have a friend that thought it would be a good idea to satisfy his girlfriend using his fingers after cutting chili peppers. Can imagine it would be something similar to your feeling.

The worst I've ever experienced was lemon juice getting in a paper cut, and that was brutal. I can't even imagine how painful your situation must have been. FML, because we all get absent minded and do stupid things sometimes. At least pain can be a good way to learn? Not a very strong silver lining, I know.
