I just got my g1 here in Ontario. I'm not allowed to drive without a G license holder in the passenger seat. Isn't it the same in most provinces?
You must not of found his sarcasm in "take it out for a spin "
A car is replaceable but family/humans are not...if he is okay and didn't hurt anyone in the process the car is the only problem...
Licences are issued to far too many people.
This is why i think it should be compulsory to spend a year driving before you do your test. Whilst learning to drive, it should also be mandatory to be taught how to control a skidding car (or at least attempt too) and they should take you offroading to learn how to drive in difficult conditions. Also, to maintain a high standard it should be compulsory that you have to redo your driving test every few years (no need for the compulsory re learning in skid cars part, just a test to make sure you can still do it all) to ensure you haven't picked up bad habits. Afterall, drivers of public transport vehicles need to be retrained each year, and cars need to be mot'd, so why is it that a car drivers licence lasts 50 years? There are too many dangerous drivers on the road and it really needs to change.
in Australia to get your licence you need to do 100hrs of driving with a licenced driver and 10 of those need to be night driving. once you pass the test you have 1 year on a red p (provisional) licence, then 2 years on a green p licence before you can get your open licence. also you need to do a hazard perception test as well.
NSW I'm guessing? VIC is 120 hours driving minimum, 10 must be night driving, then if you're under 21 when you get your licence, 1 year on red probationary plates and maximum of 1 peer passenger between the ages of 16-21 (unless they're directly related to you or under/over the age restrictions), and three on green probationary plates. If you're 21 when you get your licence you go straight onto Green P's.
The HPT test is a joke, you just touch a screen anywhere to signify when you would brake or pull out in an intersection. You still don't have to actually identify the hazard, just get the timing right. I remember when I did mine, one of the shots the road looked clear, so I hit go, only for a speeding driver coming the other way to overtake blind. I would have been killed if it was real, but I still passed
Well he took it out for a spin alright

And this is why auto insurance rates for teenagers are so much higher than for adults. Because, in general, they're idiots.
I hope he at least isn't hurt?! Sorry OP, you can always replace a car.
