Today, I lost control of my vehicle while driving. The car went off the road, rolled over, and ended up being totaled. The policeman asked me if I was alright and I said I was. He seemed relieved at my answer. Then he handed me a $300 ticket for failing to maintain my lane. FML

Same thing happened to me, OP. I lost control of my car from no fault of my own, bounced off a guardrail, shot across 3 lanes of highway, missed everyone else on the road, and hit the other guardrail. I was fine, missed everyone else on the road, but totaled my car. I called the highway patrol to report the accident, and when the cop showed up, he wrote me a $600 ticket for "speed too fast for conditions"...I asked how he was going to write me a ticket for something he wasn't there to witness and he just stared at me. Fought the ticket and won, I suggest you look into fighting it.

Holy shit Zeb, you win the ultimate Grammar Nazi prize of the day for that one.

lmfao! ppl jst have the funniest days! & the comments are the cherry on top XD

I take your mention of no other driver as grounds that you crashed the car all by yourself. That's a legitimate reason to get a ticket. You would have gotten in after you got out of the hospital if you weren't alright.

in some states, if there is damage to state property a citation MUST be issued. A guardrail, road sign, curb, bridge, or barricade could warrant a ticket. while everyone is placing fault to the officer, you should consider that the officer may have cited a lesser offense to to still comply with dept policy an at the same time cut the driver a slight break

You completely deserved this. Accidents are caused for a reason. People like you are the reason.

Moron. Sometimes accidents are exactly that, accidents. Shit happens. Kind of like you being born.

I recently had my car totaled because the car ahead of me slammed on brakes to turn in the rain. I swerved out of the way and got hit by a truck, car totaled and neck injury I got handed a reckless driving ticket while in the hospital bed.

Yeah, I hope everyone here saying 'learn how to drive' or 'you deserved it' will never actually have to face a situation like this, maybe with a loved one or family member. Because, you know, sometimes accidents do just happen, maybe the car is broken, or there is something on the road which makes you lose the control, and than you will know what it feels like if people tell you 'you were probably drunk/texting/on the phone anyway'. I know a guy that died in a car accident, he was driving very slowly home one night, because it had been snowing, but there was a patch of ice on the side of the road; the car slipped and crashed. Afterwards a lot of ignorant twats like you guys would go to his mourning family members and say such things. If I was his family, I would have hit them in the face with a baseball bat. Don't judge if you don't know the complete story. End of rant, thank you very much.

Something like this happened to me and I got a ticket. I know I completely deserved it; it was raining and I was going too fast. The lack of details in OP's post makes me believe that they were at fault, and were just pissed that they got called out on it.

If I were you, I'd have better things to worry about rather than posting FMLs.
