Today, I met with my realtor to close on a house for my boyfriend and me. While waiting for my boyfriend, I got a text message from him saying he was breaking up with me. I had already signed the papers on our house. Now I'm responsible for a mortgage that I can only afford with his help. FML

Never take a mortgage you can't afford on your own. That's just asking for problems. What if you guys did stay together and one of you lost their job?

Oh my God! That's so ******* tactless of him! FYL. That guy's a douche, you're better off without him. Maybe you can find a nice roommate?

Great! We have a new standard FML: Today, I broke up with my boyfriend/girlfriend because a) he/she came out b) he/she has been seeing another person for years c) I just signed away our financial future

YDI sorry to say i really do feel bad for you but what kind of man were you with???

YDI for not being married. It's not so much an issue of morality but of just using your head...

Since when has moving in before marriage ever been a good idea?

I was thinking that too. Plenty of people probably twist their stories around before posting them here. And I can totally see some chick doing just that. It makes sense because why else would you sign the contract by yourself when he's not even there. And he suddenly happens to break up with you right then? I prefer the desperate woman buys house to save relationship scenario.

YDI for buying a house with someone you're not even married to! How long was the mortgage for? 30 years? Did you think you'd still be together with your BOYFRIEND by then? *rolls eyes*

If you were smart about it, you would have both been listed on the mortgage so unless he signs too then the sale is not complete. Why would you sign the papers before he got there?
