If you think in base 6, you'd be close. Still wrong, but maybe close enough for partial credit. I have this nauseating feeling that you are going to end up as a schoolteacher and cause hundreds or thousands of kids to be confused about math and then hate it. You will contribute to America's march toward third-world levels of innumeracy. You wanna be a patriot? Volunteer to go teach math in China, so you can do your small part toslow down that juggernaut.
Why the hell was that question in a quiz at university level?? Yours must be one easy-ass maths degree...
I thought that at first too but then I figured it must have been part of a larger equation and that was the poece that threw off his whole answer.
