Today, I moved in with my brother to save on a swanky apartment. I was skeptical as to how this would work out as we fought a lot as kids. Our first big fight? Whether or not to keep his dorm-style futon complete with Return of the Jedi sheets. He's a 35-yr old physician; I'm a 28-yr old lawyer. FML

Shouldn't you have won the fight then? You're a lawyer. It's what you're paid to do.

Let me repeat myself, in a way: NOT ALL LAWYERS/DOCTORS ARE RICH RIGHT AWAY. As many people mentioned, loans. I'm not in college yet, but my parents and teachers constantly complain about student loans. Plus, once you're OUT of college and the extra school for training[more cha-ching] you need to find a job. Rolling in the cash? No. Newer workers aren't trusted or respected. Who would you choose- A fresh-out-of-school worker or a person with experience outside of school who you've heard of? It takes time to earn respect. I know plenty of lawyers and doctors who are just making end's meet. And NY is 10x worse. Taxes are MUCH higher and everything is more expensive. Stop with the stereotypes. My dad's a lawyer and we have trouble paying bills as well. And we live in NY, a small town, with less taxes than NYC. [assuming that's where the person lives]

If it's his futon in his room, (I'm assuming you don't sleep in the same bed) then you don't get a say in whether it is thrown away or as to how he decorates it.

Well, it is his place, so isnt he allowed to have it however he wants? unless your also paying for the place as well.

It's only a YDI if the futon & sheets are in his private space. If you decided to pool your rent for a nice place and he wants them in the living room, serving as a Star Wars themed couch, then yeah, FYL. Cuz let's face it, I'm a big Star Wars fan, but having any sheet-covered furniture kinda defeats the purpose of having a swanky apartment, no?

i just went to 'ijustwanttotellyou.com' .... people are posting some really intense things over there...

Waaah... Both my well educated brother and I had a silly argument over juvenile sheets since we're sharing an apartment. How is this an FML??? Are you expecting people to feel sorry for you?? This is like some poor little rich girl typing up an FML for chipping a nail. If that was such an FML moment, imagine what happens when you have a REAL problem.
