I bet that plastic mount bought them a nice five dollar rock.
No one deserves to be robbed, but it was pretty stupid on your part to leave the mount in the window. You might as well have put up a neon sign that said "Attention thieves, there's a good chance there's a GPS in this car! Come on in!" And I guarantee you he didn't break in for the mount, he broke in hoping the GPS was hidden in the car somewhere, and when he couldn't find it he just took what he could. Crummy luck but hopefully you'll make smarter decisions in the future.
You're supposed to hide the mount too, so Y totally DI.
YDI for having a portable GPS system. You better get one you can't carry around...
same thing happened to my mother in NY in broad daylight
well duuuhhh. in most cases when a thief see's a plastic mount for the gps, the general idea that they're going to think is that you took it off and place the gps in the glove department. so when he broke in and couldn't find the gps he/she stole the plastic mount being pissed of they broke in your car to find the gps wasn't there. i always place the gps in my glove department, as well as the plastic mounting for the gps.
YDI for needing GPS, noob!

everyone knows a plastic mount is why you have to pay the $150 for the GPS system. GPS Unit = $150 Broken Window = $250 Stolen Plastic Mount = Priceless
Sure they would. Leaving the mount sitting there means you HAVE a GPS, and most people just put it in their center console or glovebox when they're not in the car, not their pocket. So the thief probably assumed there was a GPS unit, then got irritated when there wasn't and took the mount to be a dick.
