Today, I parked in front of a grocery store and took the portable GPS system off the mount on the dashboard and put it in my pocket so no one would break into my car and steal it. When I got back, the window was smashed and someone had stolen the plastic mount. FML

Today, I was pointing out my car to my roommate. He responded with, "Oh that one with the broken window?" Turns out my car had been broken into. They took my CD player, GPS and Ipod. On top of that they left a Reese's Fastbreak wrapper and sunflower seeds on my front seat. FML

Today, I went to the post office. As I entered the building, my car alarm went off. Thinking I'd accidentally pressed the alarm on my keys, I shut it off without looking. When I returned to my car, the passenger window was demolished and my purse with all my money was gone. FML

Today, I couldn't find my car in a mall parking lot. After 30 minutes of searching, I reported it stolen to the mall security. It turns out that I'd parked it on the opposite side of the mall. Security escorted me to my car, all while giving me pitiful looks. FML

Today, I accidentally hit someone's car while in the supermarket car park. I left a note, went shopping, and when I came back my windows were shattered, my tires were slashed, and "FUCK YOU" was written on my windshield. FML

everyone knows a plastic mount is why you have to pay the $150 for the GPS system. GPS Unit = $150 Broken Window = $250 Stolen Plastic Mount = Priceless

Sure they would. Leaving the mount sitting there means you HAVE a GPS, and most people just put it in their center console or glovebox when they're not in the car, not their pocket. So the thief probably assumed there was a GPS unit, then got irritated when there wasn't and took the mount to be a dick.

This happened to me once, on my way to the SAT tests. I had to stop at the ATM machine, so I could pay my dad back for the test fee. Someone broke into my car for the GPS system, mugged me, and beat me up so badly that I had to go to the ER room!

Makes me think of this book I read where whenever this kid would find a car that had a little message claiming there was no radio to prevent theft, he would take a portable radio, smash the window and leave it with a note that said "Now you have one."

No, he's saying that "GPS system" is literally "global positioning system system," which is silly and redundantly redundant. Just like when people speak of a "PIN number" without realizing that they're talking about a "personal identification number number." He's not commenting on the use of the abbreviation. He's commenting on its MISUSE.
