I'm actually sorry for the ex in this story. 3 major dates which translates to three dinners, three gifts, and three big holes in his wallet. And for people who say "let's not celebrate thing" are liers. A man can't buy a gift card and one rose for Valentines; He can't just take her to Starbucks for her anniversary, and he sure as hell can't plan a walk in the park for her birthday. Because if he did, she would call him a cheapskate and dump him on the spot. All he did is quit while he was ahead..... Like an asshole.....but still, saved a lot of nerves
Incase you may have missed it Bob, I will repeat what you just posted. "plans on cheating." and my favorite, "turns him on to hurt me." If I were to have a girlfriend like this... Know what? Would not happen. I'd drop that bitch like a bad habit. Take a serious look at what you want in a guy and dump that one. Then look at yourself and ask yourself why you would put up with that.
Some flowers, a card, some birthday sex, and a meaningful gift go a long way. Even for under $20. Say what you will, but that guy is both a cheapskate and a douchebag. Fyl.
I don't think I've ever bought flowers for my fiancée for valentines day, apart from that necklace with a flower in it. I generally buy her flowers once in a while "just because"
My boyfriend has to deal with Christmas (Dec.), our one year (Jan.), Valentine's Day (Feb.), and then my birthday (Mar.) back to back. But I tell him not to worry about spending his money on me (he does not listen though). He's an amazing guy though and wouldn't dump me. He's not shallow..
OMG almost the exact same thing just happened to me... Just not the one year anniversary aspect... *hugs*
Same, though my six year anniversary. My guy and I only celebrate two of the days because there's no reason I need three gifts. I always do valentines day and anniversary and he always does my bday and picks one of the others. Those days are not only there for gifts. Your guy probably thought you were hinting at lots of presents.

He broke your heart the same way you would've broken his wallet :p
I know that some guys can't handle the stress of special days, but jeez...
