Been there before. It sucks when you get disappointed or shrugged off by the people you should be able to trust the most. At least now you know what to expect and you can build your support structure without him in it. AAA may not give you the emotional support you may have been looking for, but they'll usually get you home or to the next tire shop ... if you pay your membership fees that is.
Might've been dad's way of having them figure it out on their own. Was funny as a 3rd party but probably could've been a little bit less harsh.
Hi hysterical I'm son!
I read that as "pooped two tires" and had to do a double take. Sorry your dad's an asshole OP.
Grow up, kid. Part of being a responsible driver is not curbing your car in the first place, but since you can't manage that you should be prepared for this sort of thing by keeping spare tires with the car or at least having insurance so they get your car on the road again without running to daddy. Think about how proud he'd have been if you told him about this incident and then how you dealt with it like an adult. Maybe next time.
Nowhere did OP say there wasn't a spare tire and jack in the car -- but I don't know anybody at all who carries _two_ spare tires with them. Do you?
My parents hate it when I call other people to help... My dad has everything that can help without getting anyone else involved. And who said they don't have insurance? It keeps your rates down if you don't make a claim though, and if this person is young (if they are on this site, they probably are) the rates are high enough as it is. They are also most likely still learning to drive. So it's not that they're not being responsible, it's that they're learning. Just because they have a license doesn't mean they're a perfect driver. Accidents happen. And I'm sorry, but you should be able to talk to your parents no matter what age you are, so telling OP to "grow up" is completely unnecessary.
Plus, you don't know why OP hit the curb. They could have swerved to avoid an obstacle in the road or to avoid getting into an accident. Two popped tires is a lot better than a full on collision. If that was the case it would be a lot scarier and most people would appreciate some emotional support.
Something about this FML tells me the dad wouldn't be proud about anything OP does...
Maybe he was remembering your mom, and was emotionally distressed when you called? He could have blurted that by force of habit, and then hung up in sadness. If not that, he is a retarded freak for thinking its a joke.
Sorry op I've done this... I was frantic I ended up just driving to my dealership/mechanic since it was only a couple minutes away... Hopefully you got it fixed or had a spare. Now you know not to rely on your dad for anything.
Maybe it's the new mom
The common response...I don't know call your mother...just a slip I hope
Maybe there's a new mum you don't know about...
