Hello everyone! Yes I do have insurance, but the last time a friend of mine needed an ambulance the bill was still over $1500 after insurance. Also yes, in America you do have to pay when you go to the hospital. Luckily the water park just so happened to be built directly next to a fire station, so they just wheeled me over there and treated me on site. I was very dehydrated, and when I blacked out I was actually in line to get a water from the concession stand but I had been waiting in line for over 30 minutes in the heat which didn't help.

People who click YDI probably don't realize how expensive ambulence rides are. For a 5 mile ride it was $700 for me.
And I'm a penguin...
Calling 911 is free....
No it isn't everyone is charged a 911 tax. Apart from that an ambulance ride depending where you are can range anywhere from $0 to a few thousand dollars. In Chicago the fees are as follows. Basic life support: $900 Advanced life support: $1,050 Advanced life support II: $1,200 Oxygen: $25 (regardless of amount) Mileage: $17/mile An additional fee of $100 shall be assessed for individuals who are not a resident of Chicago.
No, that's America!
If you are going to write a fake post at least make it funny.
All the people who hit YDI should feel ashamed. Not everyone in America has healthcare or rather "good" healthcare and can't afford the $700 ride out of pocket. Some people can barely afford to keep their lights on and feed their kids never mind pay an overblown price for some flashing lights and a ride.
No, you're totally right, OP. I had the same thing happen to me. My parents couldn't afford an ambulance trip, but a police officer forced me to, and he could, because I was a minor.
your not wrong
