Today, I received the 'special' present my mother had sent me for my 21st birthday. I opened the box and saw that my mother had picked out, accessorized and shipped to me, in college, a doll. FML

Break it open and see if there's money inside. No, but you should keep it, it's a gift from your mom and it's special to her. Keep it in a box in your closet, but when she comes over, put it up on your dresser.

People expect so much. Honestly, when it's my birthday, the LAST thing I think about is getting presents. If I got a doll from my Mom, I'd give her a hug and thank her. She raised me, and that's good enough. Anything from your Mom should be valuable to you.
