Today, I received the 'special' present my mother had sent me for my 21st birthday. I opened the box and saw that my mother had picked out, accessorized and shipped to me, in college, a doll. FML

Break it open and see if there's money inside. No, but you should keep it, it's a gift from your mom and it's special to her. Keep it in a box in your closet, but when she comes over, put it up on your dresser.

oh come on. people are so ungrateful. she just doesnt want her little girl growing up so fast. that doll you probably wouldve gone nuts over if you were younger. have a heart, say thank you, and put the doll on a shelf. who cares what others will think? ungratefull pricks these days.....

If it was a special gift it was probably an 'American Girl' doll. Actually, a few days ago I asked my 16 yr old daughter if she would want one for a keepsake. OP, if that's what the doll is be thankful; they are expensive and she was probably thinking you would love it.

I still have my American Girl doll! I love it. I have one of the historical ones (Kirsten, the Swedish one). :)

FYI~ if anybody doesn't know, the American Girl dolls are specially made for each girl. They are a mini look~alike of you; same hair color and style, eye color, skin color, etc.

Sounds hella creepy! Maybe it was a hm-hm "life-size" doll...

#46 They're actually not creepy at all...And this is coming from someone who finds all other kinds of dolls creepy. Google 'em.

59, normally I agree with you wholeheartedly, but in this case, my superstition of things floating around that look like me, especially inanimate ones, like voodoo dolls, takes precedence. That shit would creep me out major!

#67 Not all American Girl dolls look like the recipient. The original American Girl dolls were 7 (I think) different dolls that are made to look like fictional girls from different historical eras in America.

OK, that sounds interesting. Trust me, I'm cool with your take on it. But me, I just am not friendly with dolls.

Price check it at antiques roadshow 60 years from now and you'll appreciate it.

I bet it was an American girl doll they are worth a lot of money.. don't be so spoiled..

Nerds~ I bet you keep her forever! You can give her to your daughter if/when you have one; I think they make great keepsakes. I don't know how to reply to a specific comment from the app....

#45 If I have a daughter, I definitely plan on it! I'm not usually a big doll person, but American Girl dolls are actually pretty cute keepsakes.

Geez, at least you got a present. Quit whining and be grateful that she remembered your birthday.

Wait wait wait maybe ita a blow up doll :))
