Today, I returned to work after a restful week-long holiday. Before I left, I'd finished a huge assignment which is due this week. I walk in to find a water pipe has burst just above my desk, flooding our office with water and ruining my computer. Happy New Year to me. FML

Today, I came home from work to find my house was flooded from a broken pipe under the sink. My house had just recently had new wood floors, carpet and electrics installed because 6 months earlier my house had been flooded by the same pipe breaking. FML

Today, I found out that a water pipe at my work had burst over the weekend. There is absolutely no water in the building, including the bathrooms. It's a 9-hour day, and I took a laxative this morning before I came in. FML

Today, I worked a short shift at work, getting sent home early because it was slow. In the time I was gone, my family decided surprise me by rearranging my room and put in my new desk. They also surprised me when I learned that they'd spilled a slushie on my very expensive computer. FML

Today, after five months of working overtime and doing my own repairs around the house, such as patching my own roof to save money, I walk into my home office. I find my $2500, week old, top of the line laptop won't turn on because it's drenched in water. Apparently there's a leak in the roof. FML

Today, my work finally hired someone to replace some leaky pipes. I work in the basement by myself, and just as I walked under the newly-fixed pipes, I got soaked with what appeared to be water. Apparently it was connected to a toilet. My boss couldn't find a replacement, so they made me work covered in piss. FML

Today, I went for my daily post-op doctor's appointment, where I was told I can resume normal activities. Which was handy when I came home to half-an-inch of water throughout my apartment, due to my washing machine drainage pipe coming undone while I was gone. FML

Today, workers came to my house to fix residual moisture damage in my walls left behind by Hurricane Irma. Said workers then burst a water pipe and flooded my entire apartment in the time it took figure out how to turn it off. FML

Back up your work. And if you'd finished it, why didn't you submit it early? You don't exactly deserve it, but by taking basic steps you could have avoided it.

It's possible the Hard-drive is still salvageable, depending on where the water went. Unless the whole things screwed, see if you can get the IT guy to retrieve the Hard-drive.

maybe the person got a new computer or a back up computer. the company is not just gonna have them sit around twiddling their thumbs all day. Gosh some people are so dense..and by some people I mean YOU! Always looking for a loophole or something to say instead of just taking the post for what it is, reading it, and moving on. Get a damn life. I bet you read all the posts and then look for holes in the stories. Loser!

Assuming that this happened no more than 3 days before being posted, then the week would have started between the 26th and 28th. Last I checked Christmas was on the 25th. :P

fool. get at least a flash drive to back up your work. hell, email the file to yourself, that way there's almost no chance of losing it. YDI for not being smart enough to think of these things.
