One of the many reason I do not help anyone on the street. They are in that situation for a reason. Had a similar situation, one time I said no and offered to buy a meal instead of money because allegedly they were hungry and they gave an attitude. Another time this one scary guy started a conversation as I was trying to get my market in my car. He helped and then had the audacity to say I helped how about some spare change. WTF.
Should have taken back and as you walked away mutter "ungrateful asshole".
That's why I only give homeless people leftover food.
That's when you know they're a fake homeless person who just wants money
You should have replied "poor rude bitch"
Just the other day I ran into a homeless guy asking for money for food. I offered him some food and he declined. But don't let it discourage you. There are people who actually need money. I've been in the same position and have people look down on me, curse me, laugh at me, throw coins on the ground and make me pick them up, etc. Out of a hundred nos you get maybe one yes. Yeah he was wrong for being ungrateful for that dollar, but if you've been there 4 hours or so and $1 is all you got can be pretty saddening. But every little bit does help add up. If 10 people gave $1, they would have $10. But as I said, more often than not they say no or ignore you.
Anyone can go into that situation at any time. Some of the comments break my heart because they are not sympathetic. Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of bad beggars out there, but don't we have bad politicians and stuff like that as well? It's not just about beggars it's about bad people. Yeah he could be thinking that because you maybe have been wearing expensive stuff or bought expensive items. It's just like how people who see others on food stamps have a nice phone and assume they are abusing the system. He could have thought you could have afforded more. I'm in no way endorsing or agreeing with his actions. I am just trying to bring to light so that maybe others can see things their way. The world is blind unless you try and understand other people's points of view.
Ungrateful lot. Some of them are very appreciative but most are just plain Bastards not happy with they're life n not happy with strangers handing them a little bit amount of money that they actually worked for.
I have a rule I'd like to share here. Never give money to people that don't do work for them. Meaning you could support a street musician, someone who will wash your car window, an old lady selling socks, artists etc. but never give anything to people who just beg. It's for their own good also
