Today, I saw my crush standing at the bus stop. I did the "I'm talking to someone on the phone thing," trying to be cool. Halfway through the conversation my phone actually rang, I quickly answered but it was my mom on loudspeaker yelling, "Did you bring your tampons?" FML

Yeah, yeah, yeah....I don't get why people think talking on the phone makes them look cool...and come on, be less stupid and at least put your phone on silent!

Not really sure how "Talking on the phone" makes you look cool. Just don't make eye contact if you don't want to say anything. The "phone" thing is only for emergency situations when you need to get AWAY from the person you're talking to.

Understandable that you don't want to just stand there twiddling your thumbs, but next time how about you say "Hey!" to your crush or if you're really just to shy, try actually calling somebody...Like your mom, "Don't worry mom, I remembered the tampons." Did you in fact? Because that might turn out to be more embarrassing than a little fake phone call.
