That sucks. And to all the people saying all guys are like that...NOT ALL guys are like that. Before I went home for summer from where I was staying for University, I decided to make a card for my boyfriend - sort of as a thank you and an I'll miss you kinda card. Because we don't know the next time we'll see each other and I thought it'd be sweet. And I told him he could only open it after I'd left. He said it was the nicest thing anyone has ever done for him, and he loved it. The guy in this FML is just a jerk.
Birthday cards are superficial.
maybe you should've bought him coasters for his birthday instead. silly woman, pay attention to his needs!
Op is a guy
I'm confused about what you could've possibly done to a card for it to take up 3 hours, except do it while watching TV. Wedding invitations by people new at calligraphy (and have to go slow) tend to finish in under 45 minutes. You can make any manner of pop up card in about 10, 30 if you want to try fancy sliding parts. Hell, even if you made and dyed the paper yourself you'd be hardpressed to come up with 3 hours of work. YDI for sucking at making cards.
This is going to make me sound sexist, but it's honest. As a woman who's been married for a decade, you're not in a lesbian relationship, so don't treat him like a woman. That's a gift we'd like. There are exceptions, but generally speaking, guys like things they can use.
OP's a guy..
Ahahahahaha....#14, you're my hero.
It took 3 hours to make a birthday card?? How is that even possible!!! YDI for taking too damn long with the card.

When someone does that kind of shit with stuff I make, I stop caring about getting them anything special. Next time just grab a card and sign it, since he doesn't seem to care. By the way, don't print out colored paper just to cut out. Go out and buy construction paper, it's cheaper.
What a jerk. Even if he's not into the sentimentality of cards or whatever, he should at least show some appreciation for you and your effort.
