Today, I spent half an hour on the phone with a woman who was yelling at the top of her lungs, sobbing uncontrollably, and hyperventilating. She also told me if she had a heart attack and died from crying, it was all my fault. Why? I told her she needed her receipt to have her TV repaired. FML

I would've hung up but that's why I'm not in customer service.

How is it your fault that she has the tendency to overreact?

To everyone telling OP to just hang up, they can't. I don't know what their policies are, but at my old craptastic "I get paid to be the companies punching bag" job, the only reason you can hang up is if the customer threatens you with physical harm. Every call was recorded, and some were graded based on the companies quality assurance guidelines. In essence- you are at the customers mercy. No matter how badly you want to tell the stupid bitch to shut her goddamn mouth and go **** herself, you have to kiss her ass and be patient. It sucks ass and CSR's do not get adequate compensation for the stress level of the job. FYL OP, your job sucks balls.

Canadians are starting to become too American. it's sad!!

Maybe she accidentally broke someone's T.V.?
