Today, I thought it would be to a good idea to introduce my indoor cat to my dog. The pee stains, multiple scratches, and puncture wounds to my face prove otherwise. FML

Well of course you've got puncture wounds. You peed on her and scratched her. Poor cat.

I have had outside dogs and indoor cats together that have learned to tolerate each other or even to be friends. in the case of one of the dogs, we just had to make it clear that the cat was part of the family. the other dog was just friendly to everything naturally. the cat, meanwhile, through use of various barriers, taught herself not to be scared of the dog and even stood up to him in her own way, while the dog basically just blinked and laughed it off. I think we were mostly lucky about it, to be honest, but it worked out, and there were times in winter when we had the dogs in the house where all three would sleep together by the fireplace.

I hope by outside you mean you take the dog outside and it does not LIVE outside....?

What made u thing that would be a good idea

That's why you're supposed to do it slowly and gradually. Some people shouldn't have pets.

We just adopted a 6 month old Pitbull. Our cats are trying to get used to her but it's a process

Um... you held your cat while this happened? Expose them gradually, both pets On The Ground.

You shouldn't have any pets if you think it's okay to keep them outside.

Yes it's easier to have them grow up together from around the same age, and time at home. But that doesn't mean it's going to end bad if you do not. I have a 5 year old Siamese and introduced a great dane this year. They are perfectly fine together. So is my 4 year old pitbull. You should introduce the potential new pet and do a TRIAL period before committing. A pet is supposed to be forever. Not to be given up on. Sometimes it take months. But that is the persons responsibility for accepting a new pet not knowing how the other one will do with it. Also, any idiots who have outside dogs shouldn't have pets. How would you like to live outside? They are supposed to be members of the family. Not lawn trophies. As I lay in bed mine are all in bed with me warm and cozy. Not out dealing with the harsh elements.
