Today, I told my parents that all I wanted for my 18th birthday was to go to a restaurant in NYC for a nice dinner. My parents said no, because it would cost too much money. I came home to see my parents had bought a huge TV for $800. We already have 3 televisions. FML

Today, I went to dinner with friends for my birthday. During the whole thing they insisted that we get whatever we wanted and celebrate, but when the check came, they all looked at me expectantly. I just bought my friends $150 of food for my birthday present. FML

Today, I spent over $2,000 on a big flatscreen TV. My dad insisted I let him mount it on the wall instead of paying someone to do it. All seemed fine, until the TV came loose and smashed onto the floor. My dad refuses to accept responsibility, and says I should've had a professional install it instead. FML

Today, I begged my parents not to take me to a restaurant for my birthday, but sure enough, they took me to one, along with my siblings, aunts, uncles, you name it. Ordering with them is a nightmare, so after a whole half-hour the waiter still hadn’t gotten everyone’s complicated orders written down. FML

I'm gonna say FYL because I live in NJ and while it's hard to get to NY just for dinner, for a birthday that's a reasonable gift, so to say that's too expensive and then buy a brand new tv, that's just rude.

I agree, that sucks. A TV is nice, but a memory of doing dinner in NYC is something that will last much longer then that TV will. And why THREE TVs? Some people have there priorities ALL out of whack.

Dude go to New York some other time. I got 7 broken ribs, dislocated sholder, broke a toe and had to suck it up and clean my own blood on my 18th birthday. I say take the Tv and be damn happy. I was on my 18th.
