Today, I told my students that I would be absent tomorrow because my wife was giving birth. They burst into applause... not to congratulate me on the new baby. FML

don't take it personally, they're just looking forward to not doing work for a day.

Maybe it was to congratulate you on getting laid.

That's what I thought. We applauded my English teacher just for the fact he can actually get laid.

kids are a pest, especially teens. that's why i will never become teacher.

Oh get over it. I select option 3, no one cares. You don't remember being a student and finding out you were having a substitute? You look forward to those days. Congratulations on the baby.

It's what all students do. Seriously. Even if you're the best teacher in the world, you're part of the administration. And all students, myself included, have at least a slight us vs. them mentality. You leaving is a good thing to them, no matter how cool you are. I have one teacher whom I dislike having a sub for, out of seven. And he's one of few, ever.

not ur fault, im sure when u were a kid u hated a teacher atleast. and btw, gratz :P

Kids are dicks. For reference, see this thread.

#26 for sure. at least that's what i was thinking.

couragewolf9001/#9: I agree. You might just be boring as a teacher... My geometry teacher is nice, but he's a terrible teacher... But he's nice. Although that may not be part of it. I like having a sub because it's a nice day off sort of. Unless the teacher gives the class a shitload of work to do while they're away...
