well, that's normal, I guess. I'm a student and I'm always happy when a teacher skips a class - especially if it's for such a happy thing like a birth and not for an illness or so. It's always nice to have some more time off, even if you may like the teacher.
This isn't an FML, your wife is about to have your kid. How's that bad? And trust me, ALL students would love to have supply teachers. Doesn't matter what grade, we're all applauding when our regular teachers aren't there. It's not you, it's just the way things are. It goes for every teacher. No student says "oh darn, a supply teacher today! now we don't have to learn :( "
every kid in the World is gonna be happy that their teacher is gone....especially their Spanish teacher.
You know kids. It's just the whole excitement about having a substitute they can manipulate. I remember being a douche when I was in high school. My senior year for example, my psychology teacher was getting married and all the class could think about was, "Yes! We don't have to do out homework!", or something insensitive like that. Don't let it get to you though, this is a happy day. Congratulations on your new baby! I hope he or she comes out healthy!
You are new at teaching... Trust me when they applauded they were all happy for you...but remember that they are not adults, the best way they can express their happiness is by making fun of you.
Señor Uceda! Ví esto en la red y inmediatamente supe que ud. lo escribió. Felicitaciones para la nueva miembra de su familia. -Matt Ross
