Yeah, why would they applaud to congratulate you on the baby? You're their teacher, they see you as an assexual being who is at school for 7 hours, then climbs into a sealed chamber and hibernates until the next day.
u should prolly not be such a strict/annnoying teacher. trust me, i have 1 and we get so excited when shes absent. you totally deserve this

Hey highschool can be stressful for students too. : D I don't think I ever applauded but I have like powerslid into the room from excitement when we had a sub. Think of it as a win win, you get the day off to see your newborn enter life, and they get a period off. = D At least it's for a good reason! An English teacher who was ALWAYS there was out one day which we all started to be happy about, unfortunately it was about a family emergency :( which of course immediately ended the happiness once we found out. Congrats on the baby, hope its healthy!
