Today, I took a test as part of a job requirement. I took a sip from a bottle of juice, and the lady leading the test gave me a warning. I tried to explain that if I didn't, I would faint. She took the bottle and hid it. 15 minutes later I collapsed. She thought I was faking. I'm hypoglycemic. FML

Wow. One on hand, you really should have said "I'm hypoglycemic," instead of just saying that you would faint. But on the other.. Taking juice away on a job test from somebody that claims that they'd faint... She should be getting in trouble for that. Hope you got the job!

wtf? what a bitch! well maybe now they'll give you the job because they feel so bad. that is if you still want it!

This does not merit a lawsuit. If the person was sitting while taking the test, which seems likely, I doubt there's much danger of injury from fainting. Also, if you're hypoglycemic and know you'll have to take some sort of test, prepare better than just having juice - eat a more protein and complex carbs before rather than relying on being able to eat during. And yes, I'm also hypoglycemic and have low blood pressure...

Just because you're sitting doesn't mean you won't get hurt. I fainted while in a chair, fell out, and hit my head on the floor, resulting in a concussion. This happened a year ago and I still suffer from concussion headaches.

In all fairness though who really wants an employee who has to drink juice every 15 minutes or they faint?

That's discriminating against someone with a legitimate medical condition, smart one

"i am hypoglycemic, and its not that bad. i have never passed out in my life. just stay away from sugar" I think you got it all wrong, HYPO means you don't have enough. if you're hypoglycemic (which means you don't have enough glycose, which is sugar) you DO NOT stay away from sugar. It's because people like you who have no idea what words mean that the op said "i could faint" (simple redneck words) and not "i'm hypoglycemic" (5 syllabus word !!) I know what it is, i don't feel well if i don't have my coke and my chocolate handly..

#44: being hypoglycemic doesn't mean you rely on sugar. I have it too, and I have to eat high carbs followed by high protein every 3-5 hours. Hypoglycemia is caused because your pancreas can't produce enough insulin consistantly; causing fluxes in high and low blood sugar levels. The carbs give the sugar, the protein regulates it, but if you flood your pancreas with glucose by eating sugary stuff constantly, you'll end up killing your pancreas and becoming diabetic. Aka a much worse boat. Hypoglycemic patients should only eat/drink sugary substances while having an episode, like what the OP was describing, then eat protein. I've had a similar situation in the work place (a restaurant) where we were swamped and I had gone 6 hours without eating. I ended up having an episode which then triggered a panic attack. This being said, hypoglycemia can be controlled, but not all day everyday.

Consuming too much sugar DOES NOT cause diabetes. Please stop spreading that false information. Do some simple research and read up on type 1 AND type 2 diabetes before spreading information about a disease you know nothing about.

That sucks, but you really need to learn to stand up for yourself.

uhm whoa. thats ****** up. not fair. and you probably didnt say that you're hypoglycemic, because it didnt cross your mind. it happens to me all the time...

what a dumbshit (her not you) but you really should have said that ur hypoglycenic instead of just saying you'll faint thats just stupid

Yeah some of these FMLs could be solved if someone just spoke up a little. "I'm hypoglycemic, I'll faint." Maybe if you'd said it before the class that would've been fair enough warning for her. FYL anyway for having a terrible experience. Hopefully she apologized and you'll have no lasting ill effects.

She physically took the bottle from you? Are you 6 years old? Man up and defend your shit.

Just cause you stated your problem to her in a somewhat incorrect fashion doesnt mean you deserve it. Not everyone is perfect and I think some people around here need to remember that. Frick people quit being so ******* cold. And what ******* difference does it make if its not a disease? I mean really? The result is the same whether or not its classified as such. So thanks for being a dick #25, seriously. And everyone else who can't tug that little stick out of their ass.
