Same thing happened to me about 8 months ago. Took my parents 17 yr old, one eyed, stroke victim dog to be put down after he became immobile and stopped eating. We carried him inside in his dog bed and wrapped in a blanket. I walked up and quietly said I had an appointment. The bitchy office clerk told me to fill out the "recent medical history" form. When I tried to explain it really wasn't necessary she yelled at me "ALL APPOINTMENTS HAVE TO FILL OUT A FORM!" So I took it... Filled it out and put "Euthanasia" as the reason for appointment. When I got called up to check in for the appt by the other clerk she saw I had the form. She then turned to the bitch and said something quietly. The bitch got a shocked look on her face and then came over and very quietly, but profusely apologized for forcing me to fill it out. I wanted to say, "Well no shit bitch!! I tried to tell you!! It doesn't matter if he's had a cough! He isn't going to need meds after this visit!" ? Anyway, sorry for your loss OP. Your pupper is running free over the rainbow bridge with all of our lost furbabies. ?
No, no, you are just messed up in the head, and for all I know, might have typed that comment from an asylum.
Sorry for your loss, OP. I lost my cat of fifteen years slightly over a year ago and I'm still broken over it, but you do learn to live with it... They're allotted a different amount of time than we are, and for them, it's not like they're missing out on anything. I had a really bad experience with a vet too, but by some crazy chance found a good one just in time, who kept my cat happily going for 20 months. The time eventually came though. Stay strong, and remember that they change us for the better and all that really matters is that we make them happy while they're with us.
Sorry about your loss OP! Your pet is in a better place now
Yikes. When we schedule a euthanasia we always make sure everybody knows who it is and when they're coming, but we're also a small practice (our busiest day is the two vets and three of us techs, and we don't have dedicated reception staff). I'm guessing you go to a larger practice and there was some kind of miscommunication between the receptionists and the doctors, but that's still not much of an excuse. I'm really sorry that happened, OP.
FYL, OP. It's tough to your loved ones go.
That's terrible. I once had to put my beloved dog down. He was my whole life since I was 3. I guess after 15 years he took a turn for the worst. I understand your pain and loss and the vet definitely should have know and been more considerate
I had to hold back tears when I read this :'(

That's rough OP. I'm so sorry about your dog. Having to put down someone that close to you is incredibly hard, and having a vet who can't even bother to look into what they're doing is not fair to you.
So sad maybe that one vet didn't know the situation :/
