Today, I was accepted to college and received a scholarship equal to almost half the tuition. After sharing this news with my parents, I spent the next 35 minutes getting yelled at about how I wasn't allowed to go there because my boyfriend might go there. FML

Wow, that's lame... Unless it was an easy college to get into. Then they might think he is the only reason you're going.

That sucks. Looks like your parents don't realise that you're legally an adult. For your sake I hope they come around.

Dude you're Asian yourself. And I doubt "Asian parents" would be like that since they value education.

Well congrats on your scholarship! Maybe you can convince them that you really do want to go to that college for yourself, not your boyfriend

You ARE going to go to that college anyway, right?

Actually, given the conservative culture of most Asians, yes, they are like that. I was made to go to another school three cities away so I wouldn't be near my friends.

**** that shit, and over here (in NZ) our college is highschool, we go to University which is what you would call college (it's confusing), and my parents made up there minds about which Uni i was going to go too when i had just started primary so your lucky in the fact that you actually have plans that you can follow through on

fck that go to the school u want. especially since u have a scholership to pay for half.

That doesn't even make sense. Because your boyfriend might go there? Stupid. Don't believe it.

my parents are doing the same thing -_-

**** that. You're (I'm assuming) an adult now, and it's your decision to make. They should be proud of you and support you. If they don't want you to be happy, they don't deserve you and can deal while you're away getting a great education and they sit and ponder what selfish, over protective bitches they are.
