The clerk is a damned idiot. Even if you WERE male, how would it be in the clerk's right position to assume that you didn't know you were buying feminine products? After all, I believe it should be fairly easy to tell whether or not you were purchasing these by looking at the isle you're in, the context of the products, and the design/colors of the products. In other words, he's an idiot for assuming you're an idiot.
