Today, I was doing takeout orders at the restaurant I work at. I spent a long while putting together this guy's $135.00 order. When he finally got there to pick it up, I told him to fill out the credit card slip. I looked at it after he left. He gave me a 40 cent tip. FML

most people i know don't leave tips when they order food to go, i guess coz most of the work put into it was done by the cooks, not the waiter/waitress. or something like that.

I wouldn't give any tip...... its a pickup order..... u get paid to work. why tip when you. aren't a service job. and if u are a waiter and live off tips you got money for doing nothing

Tips are ridiculous! Get a new job. No need to pay extra because your food is cold??

u should stfu and be grateful for every penny! why the f*** do u deserve a tip for DOING UR FRIGGING JOB?!?!?!

What a dick.FHL for being a sucky person.

U do realize with the current economy people r forced to take any job they can get and yes minimum wage is a little over 7 an hr but if u read the labor posting at work it also states server minimum is 2.13 an hr it is rude to say that bcuz they r paid low its not ur prob these people provide i good service make sure your food is properly cooked b4 it is delivered to ur table so if ur food comes out burnt its not the servers prob

Tipping is derived from bribes that rich mafia people would give to servers in the early days of restaurants in America. They would normally refuse them as it was "un-American" until the depression when the owners of the restaurants began encouraging the servers to take the money so they could pay them less. Then restaurants became available to the common man and tipping was ingrained in the service but it actually makes the whole process for server and patron much less enjoyable. I recommend places that forbid tipping and pay their servers properly in the first place instead of putting the salary on the customer.

Your lucky, in england we dont even get tips!

I never tip the waiter for carryout. Its their to take my order.

In Australia you're not supposed to expect any type of tip.

He wasn't required to give you any tip at all so you should be grateful for what you got.
