Today, I was driving on the freeway when I get a call from my friend explaining that our two best friends died in a car accident. I pulled over in hysterics and a cop came to see what was wrong. I explained what happened and he gave me a ticket for talking on the phone while driving. FML

You could've died in a car accident too for answering your phone! You should've pulled over first! What would you do if you found out that your friends died because they answered the phone when driving? (and on the phone to the friend who phoned you!)

what a horrible, horrible person. my god. i'm so sorry.

The content of the phone call is irrelevant. You shouldn't have answered the phone whilst driving.

Wow, that really is horrible, im so sorry to hear that

**** you, "typical douchebag cop", your the douchebag for assuming something about people whos job it is to protect you, you ungrateful ass. My father was a cop and was killed on the job, so go to hell

Seriously, a lot of cops in California suck. Not that I'm not grateful for the good one's service, but they are few and far between. I'm sorry for your loss. That cop should be fired. The govt. is just greedy and wants money, because they overspend.

On what grounds should he be fired? He was enforcing a law in a case where the woman demonstrated exactly why the law is in effect. She was lucky enough not to cause an accident this time, but she unnecessarily increased the likelihood of an accident by talking on the phone while driving. If anything, that officer deserves a promotion.

If less people talked on the phone while driving then fewer accidents like the one that killed your friends would not happen. God people like you are retarded.

Honestly i dont gice a shit, they were most likely talkin and deserved it....ok maybe i have 2.5 ***** but thats about it...i sorta feel 7.86% happier that they died, 2 less people to watch out for on the road so america is a little bit safer!!!!! and if i had the optiob 2 resurect em, i wouldn't, id just ask jesus for an omlet.

I just want to say I am so very sorry. I cant imagine what you must be going through at this time.

You heartless, ignorant, self-absorbed, loser! I can't believe you could be so impossibly arrogant to post something so blatantly cruel and inflammatory like all the other douchebags who post this kind of merciless crap. You think the world owes you something, like you're some hot shit that can act all smug at another's suffering, but in reality you’re probably a sad, mean little person who, clearly, can't even type out a coherent and well-constructed thought, let alone anything constructive or helpful. And what the hell is this 7.86% bullshit? You think your some ******* genius or something? Crawl back into your narcissistic hole and let’s hope Jesus puts your 2.5 ***** into that ******* omelet when your day comes.

Clearly she didn't. Her driving was impaired by being on the phone, regardless of whether she became hysterical or not, but she failed to pull over until after she became hysterical. Fun fact: talking on the cell phone while driving is just as dangerous as driving drunk.

You've been informed by telephone that your friends have died countless times, and subsequently been ticketed for using a phone whilst driving? ... Sucks to be you..

#347 - I don't buy that. In what regard does driving on a cell phone impair one's ability to drive? I drive with one hand on the wheel at a time frequently even when not on a cell phone, and I find talking on one to be much less distracting to talking to someone in the passenger seat...or, worse, in the back seat.

Here you go, 266 pages that will say it better than I can: http://documents.nytimes.com/documents-from-the-u-s-department-of-transportation-s-national-highway-traffic-safety-administration Think about it, though: Talking on a cell phone requires concentration. It's harder to hear/understand the person on the other end of a cell phone than the passenger, so that's a significant amount of concentration right there. Plus, the person on the other end of the phone won't know to shut up because a semi is headed straight for you and need to concentrate on the road, while a passenger surely will. Seriously, though, read the link.

The first several pages didn't address the issue at all, and the text on the pages after that were too small for me to read. It's not always harder to understand the other party in a cell phone conversation - in fact, I have a much harder time understanding my wife when she's in the passenger seat than I do anyone on a cell phone. She has a quiet, soft voice that doesn't carry - which isn't as big a problem when she's talking into a microphone inches from her mouth - and even when sitting in the passenger seat likes to rely heavily on body language and gestures, no matter how much I tell her not to. I'll guarantee you that if I'm about to be hit by a semi, I'm not even going to notice that the other person is talking, my attention will be on the semi.

What a surprise...a heartless asshole cop just trying to fill his quota. Pathetic. Very sorry for your loss.

What an ass. I can't believe people sometimes. My biggest sympathies to your losses.
