You should have gone back after your food. I'm sure it has happened so many times before. I work at a bakery, and you wouldn't believe have many people will pay for their bread and then just leave it sitting on the counter while the walk out.

As someone that works in fast food and does the drive thru, people have done that before. But you know, that's just free food for us lol

Op, you should have went back, remember you're not the first and you won't be the last to do that.

Feelings of embarrassment will pass, you could always call and get a rain check on the food. Places will usually do that to avoid conflict.

I've don't that before. Just laugh at yourself with them. It makes the sting a little more bearable.
