Today, I was fired from my job of 5 years. I was let go because I couldn't take the company to 'the next level'. My now ex-boss asked me if I could process my severance check because he didn't know how. I had to write myself my last paycheck. FML

so how much extra did u give urself? ;D what i would have done

Haha, I'd tell him to go **** himself and walk away. I'm not paid to write my own check anymore. He has to figure it out anyways or he could get into huge trouble.

Oh wow. Your ex boss is an idiot! That really sucks though. Hopefully you'll find a job where you're appreciated!

i feel like your boss doesn't personally write the checks out for you normally the company/business' accountant prints out your checks your boss just signs them.. i call fake

I would have charged an 'outside consultant' fee for that task.

If one of your responsibilities is to fill out checks then you must be an accountant. Why would your boss rely on an accountant to bring the company to the next level? Unless it's a small business where you're the manager/accountant with many other responsibilities then I guess it makes sense. But it would be more of your boss's fault for the company's failure. You're better off with another job.

wow, you actually did it? I would have told him to go "**** himself, running." or something like that... I am with #42... you are better off. If the asshat doesn't know how to write a check to you, then i am sure he is going to pick a real winner when they try to replace you.

Shouldn't your ex-boss be the one getting fired? You couldn't take your company to the "next-level" but it's your ex-boss who didn't know how to do cheques? Definitely a FML.
