I think he deserves the money for getting plowed by a truck. For his parents to want to take the money that he earned yet is not rightfully his, and spend it on a vacation suite in Las Vegas is just wrong. I would hope that my parents wouldn't do that to me if I got hit by a car, or was injured in any way for that matter.

It's not his money to spend. It's the parents' responsibility to pay the hospital bills with that money and that's it! He doesn't pay for the insurance, he has no claim to any money left over. Turning your kids injury into a vacation is tacky, but OP would have no right to say the money is theirs.

34 - it may not have been his fault. The truck might have been turning or something, across traffic, and even if the person was on the crosswalk, the truck driver might not have seen them. I've been in both spots, I almost hit someone and I almost got hit. Except the person who almost hit me was retarded, and honked their horn at me for crossing the street when I had the walk signal. When I almost hit someone, my windshield was covered in dust and the sun was glaring off of it and I could barely see shit. So it's not always the OP's fault.
