Today, I was leaving the grocery store when an old woman started yelling at me for not holding the door open for her. She accused me of being "everything wrong with the younger generation". It was an automatic door. FML

Some people just look for excuses to shout and rant at something. I'm sure of it were a normal door you would have held it open for her! I swear people all over the place just want to use "Well, back in my day..." Keep doing what you're doing OP! :)

she is right that the younger generation had a serious lack of respect for others and yourselfs

This is on a case by case basis in that not everyone in an entire generation can be labeled by the actions of a few, i personally give respect to those who show respect to me no matter what their age/ situation is. If you really want to group everyone in a generation by a couple of cases I will now claim that all older people are ignorant and stupid which i base upon the couple of FMLs that involve older people.

Oh wow lady you think you have the right to judge an ENTIRE generation because you don't. You are some pathetic old hag complaining about the generation that YOU raised And it's *yourselves

Psssssst... Hey Grandma, it's a magic door and it opens as you approach.

My sister said thank you to an automatic door...she'll never live it down. But there is nothing wrong with our current generation, people probably said the same thing about their generation and we'll say the same about the next.

I hate when people blame my generation as being degenerates. What about the generation that raised us? Where is their judgment?

A very unique perspective... I never thought about it that way! Youre 100% right, they have no room to judge us and not judge our parents. I think old people can be so hypocritical. And then they preach to us not to be judgemental.

I read somewhere that young people were actually more polite and courteous while elder people were not. I find that incredibly difficult to believe, but one winter a bunch of teens did come to our rescue when my sister-in-law's car got stuck in the mud...

What's wrong with the world is when I hold the door for people and they don't say thank you.
