Today, I was lecturing my high school students on the importance of a good education. I pointed out the janitor in the hall and told them if they didn't stay in school, they'd end up like him. Then one of my students raised her hand and reminded me that the janitor I pointed to was her dad. FML

Ydi. A lot of people end up with jobs like that because they can't get anything better and at least they have a job.

Serves you right, OP. Why would you even say that? At least he ha s a job, you're not better than him or anyone else who does "dirty work".

You're an ass. There's nothing wrong with being a janitor.

Shame on you. You shouldn't be so judgmental. YDI

I just want to add, some janitors make damn good pay! Plus if it's a public school system, they are also getting great health insurance

YDI, it is very rude of you to insult somebody's intellect based upon the position they hold. They could have graduated from a prestigious college with a doctorate of the sciences in education and decided that they wanted to try another job. Never assume that anyone is lacking in education, that just makes an ass out of u and me. I hope they sue you for slandering them in front of your students.

OP, pull your head out of your ass and realize that an education is no good without common sense. I bet you think you're better than everyone "lower" than you? Well those hardworking people are the ones who enable you to live the lifestyle that you do. Just because somebody doesn't have a college degree doesn't mean that they aren't important members of society, or that the piece of paper that says you're 'educated' means that you're entitled to judge them.

My father had severe learning disabilities and took a job as a janitor in the public school system so he could have a secure job with benefits to support his family. He had job security, plenty of vacation days, and he never had to worry about paying for glasses, the dentist, or his meds. He only made about $21,000 a year his entire life and was still able to retire comfortably. His job also had nice insurance policies that meant that even though he had nothing in the bank when he died, he left us a nice inheritance. My dad made a great choice and I was very proud of him. You totally deserve how you feel.

Who are you to judge? What is they had no janitors and made you arrogant teachers clean up? Would you think him so insignificant or beneath you then? Why not tell the class how an education opens the doors to their dreams instead of how a judging society looks for ways to beat them down!

I thought school was all about the no bullying and no discrimination policy? Atleast he got a job taking responsibility for his family, I like to think that there is actually still people in this world that are able to be happy without swimming in money. Judging a persons worth cause of his job, smooth...

He has a job that helps him support his family. I've seen to many dead beat dads that would rather run away from there responsibility. Shame on you for judging him.
