Today, I was looking online for an alternative number for the interior decorator that is making curtains for me because I couldn't get hold of him. Instead of his number I found a website warning people about him, saying he is a conman. I paid a very big deposit. FML

Today, I found out that I'm just one of the millions who got scammed by what seemed to be a legit website. None of the negative reviews or bugs appeared until after I spent a fortune of someone else’s money on a server that will never arrive. FML

Today, a week after spending most of my paycheck on a down-payment and rent on a new apartment, I found out the "landlord" I paid was a scammer. Turns out the real owner was away on vacation, and he'd stolen most of her stuff before showing me the place. FML

Today, after I took up a job to design a website for a company, I had everything done… but they went with someone else. Their boss's nephew made a site that looks like it was pulled from late '90s GeoCities site, and is full of spelling errors and broken links. They paid him $5000 for this. FML

Today, my twit of a husband admitted to falling for an internet scam involving a dead foreign politician, the promise of a share in millions of dollars currently stuck in a bank, and him having wired a large amount of our money to "bribe an official". FML

Today, despite warning my mother repeatedly about scammers, I got home to her on the phone giving her bank details to someone for security purposes. I grabbed the phone and hung up, and now she’s mad at me because he sounded like such a "nice honest man" and I was very rude to him. FML

1. That sucks; happened to my parents once. Except instead of an interior designer, it was a contractor. Not to mention he was in the process of finishing a family friend's house. Needless to say, a month after he got the down payment, he disappeared and has yet to put the finishing touches on our friend's house This was in 2005. 2. Next time, search the person before even calling them. Their service is like a product; check the online reviews before investing any money into it.

To everyone who says YDI is being too rash. Granted, you should have googled this guy before hand but all I'm going to say about this is this happened to my mother 4 years ago but it wasn't a random person it was my sister's fiance's uncle (well now it's ex but whatever). These things happen, FYL

I hate how moderated comments just get deleted. People are always like, " OMG NUMBER 4 U SAID SOMETHING SO INTERESTING!" So I scroll up and there's a #3 and #4. They could hide them and have a button for members to show the deleted comments, imo.
