My exact words were "Hey, your ears wiggle when you answer questions, haha. That's cute." Not the smoothest thing to say obviously, but I guess I should have kept my comment to myself.

Did you say to her that it was cute? That probably would have given you a better response...
It may seem kind of stupid, but saying stuff like that can really get to someone's head. It's not like she can consciously control it. It's all unconscious. This sucks because that means it's a thousand times harder for anyone to take the person seriously. Imagine having the silliest voice ever, that almost everyone laughs at. You might be fine with it if you have a silly kind of personality, but if you're very serious about everything you do, it sucks because no one would ever take you seriously. Especially as a child in school, other kids aren't really going to consider your feelings, and the comments you receive everyday in grade school can scar you for life.
Hopefully she will understand once you tell her that you think it is cute.

Show it anywayChill out he meant it as a complement she def had some issues but it wasnt like he was being a jerk about it. How was he supposed to know she would react like that ?
Ah, yes, you delivered The Neg. Starting tomorrow, you'll be irresistible to her. Well played!
Close the deal by commenting on how well she pulls off greasy hair.

Tell her you thought it was cute and didn't mean to be a douchebag.
