Today, I was reassuring my girlfriend that I wasn't cheating on her because I was sneaking around. I'm actually just planning a surprise birthday party for her. During the reassuring, I accidentally called her another girl's name. FML

I was going to let you borrow my shovel, but it looks like you already got one

Just don't call her Rachel at the wedding (if you do get married some day).

What if his girlfriend's name is Rachel? O.o

I'm sorry but how do you make that mistake...

Let's say he could be organising it with her friends (some more than likely girls). Then while you're organising it, you're thinking of what the girls may have asked you to do. Their names will be in your head and when the girlfriend confronted OP he panicked and said another name.

I can understand that I just hope she can too...

Oops..There's a reason why many women hate surprises. Looks like you just exemplified that statement..

Warning: if you make it thru together to the birthday party..please say the right name while singing happy birthday!

Well, you're screwed up man, better tell her about the party now.

My problem is, you never actually clarified whether you ARE cheating or not

I think that's pretty obvious with OP saying he was reassuring his girlfriend he wasn't, that he wasn't cheating. Or do you only pick up on things if the FML says them?

"... she later caught me at the birthday party making out with the girl whose name I said. FML"

Yes, it is. But it wasn't clearly stated

It is clearly stated. "I'm actually just..." Is pretty clear that he isn't cheating.

after the party explain everything. if she really loves u she' ll understand

But here's the thing, when women get suspicious about anything, wether or not it's true or not, we tend to overanalyze everything and investigate. We can't let it rest until we "know". (I am not stating all women do this, just some)
