Today, I was rejected from the University of Washington. My dad has been a professor there for 30 years, and is on the board of admissions. FML

Today, I got a large envelope from a college I applied to earlier. My mom, expecting big news, made my family gather round as I opened it. It ended up being a letter of rejection from not just that school, but all three campuses of the state college. FML

Today, I received my acceptance letter to one of the most prestigious universities in the US, as well as a nice scholarship. I was so proud of myself, I eagerly showed my dad, hoping he would shed a tear or two. His only words were, "Just get a job so you can get the hell out of my house." FML

Today, I got an offer to study at a good university. My father has been pushing me to apply for years, so I ecstatically broke the news. Instead of congratulating me, he just grunted and delivered the more important news that he's divorcing my mum. Moment ruined. FML

Today, I found out that I was denied for work study eligibility by my college. I went to my financial advisor to ask why. It wasn't my grades or attendance. Apparently my father makes too much money for me to get a job at the school. My dad was fired 3 months ago and has been out of work since. FML

OH NO! FYL because now if you want to get into college you'll actually have to (GASP) work! If your parent is in admissions you should be able to get in regardless of grades. sarcasm

Oh yeah, why don't you try applying for UW Tacoma? Its a pretty good school if they offer the major you want. And my cousin's one of the admissions directors, so I know its good, haha.

YDI for thinking daddy was going to fix everything so you could get in even though you really didn't deserve to. And to think if he would have let you in you would have taken the place of another hard working person that didn't have a family member to let them in, and actually had to work really hard for their spot. o_o

wow it doesn't make a difference that your dad is on the board of dirrectors. if you really think that your dad will help you get into a school you are an idiot. that would be totally unfair
