Today, I was roasting marshmallows around a campfire when mine burst into flames. I instinctively shook the stick to get it to go out. The flaming marshmallow then catapulted straight into my eye, burning my whole eyelid. FML

YDI. Marshmallows are delicious after they catch fire and you should feel bad for not already knowing this, but the only way to put out the fire is to simply blow on it. It should be fairly obvious from the very start what would happen if you shook it.

The burnt ones are always the best. Hard and caramelised on the outside and soft and gooey in the middle :)

Ouch! but at the same time, I am just glad to hear that it was your eyelid, and not a direct hit straight to the eyeball. That would have been a lot worse =/

I have to say YDI on this one. I never was in girl scouts or any other kinda youth outdoorsy type of group, and even I know that when your marshmallows light up in flames YOU BLOW THEM OUT LIKE CANDLES ON A BIRTHDAY CAKE. Seriously, why on earth would you shake it? For the record - burnt marshmallows are the best kinda marshmallows.

Just why ... Why did your instincts tell you to shake off the burning marshmellow into the (probably) flameable forrest. Also, Marshmellows taste good if you burn them a little.
