Today, I was sitting in my school's crowded auditorium. When our single, abstinence-only ballsack of a Sex Ed teacher was announced to be stepping down due to being pregnant, I burst into uncontrollable laughter. My reward was aching sides and a week of detention. FML

If that were me in that situation, given the irony, I'd regret absolutely nothing.

Don't have sex. YOU WILL GET PREGNANT AND DIE!

. . . from the village people coming out to stone her fornicating, hypocritical self.

Your sex-ed teacher is gonna preach abstinence because that's their job, and because you guys are minors.. Doesn't mean they're gonna practice what they preach. You know, the whole "Do as I say, not as I do" saying.

18, It's their job to educate them on these issues. It is their choice if they want to be over the top about it, but they are required only to teach the position of the institution. They can therefore choose to teach said position, then follow it up with "but..." and give some real world advice when kids need it. Teaching method is a big part of what message is taken in by the kids - and it would seem that this individual was not big on free thinking.

They actually dont have to preach abstinence. They do though, have to teach using protection, and although abstinence is the best way to not get pregnant, my sex ed teacher said that once you are 16 (in my state, at least) you are legally allowed to consent to having sex. And then she warned us of all the dangers of not using contraceptives.

Darn, 27 beat me to it :b haha.

Just passed a law here in Utah that they can only teach abstinence. Douche Bags.

61 - 1) you live in Utah so duh! 2) that really upsets me. It breaks my heart to see teens pregnant. It's so hard to raise kids when you're still a kid. It's a disadvantage not to show them how to protect themselves. Conservatives can preach abstinence all they want. Kids will still have sex anyway, except with abstinence Ed only, they'll get pregnant. Not everyone is born into a perfect two family household that acts as a support system that urges them to wait/ use protection. Want less single family households? Teach both contraception and abstinence. Put funding into public school systems that teach young women empowerment and ambition. Expose them to different career paths early. Instead what do they do? Cut educational funding and teach abstinence only. Then they point fingers and judge. This is real life, not Utopia. Wake up, decision makers. Step out of your perfect-world bubble!! Cause and effect, cause and effect.

71- That was probably one of the most intelligent, well-put arguments I've read for a while. Nicely done.

I'm so glad I don't in live in America if it comes to sexual education. I never learned about abstinence, I learned about contraception when I was in primary school and also in high school. And even then they forgot to learn us some important issues. Like, that you can get pregnant while taking the pill without noticing it. Or that you need to be carefull with antibiotics when taking the pill. And sadly, they also didn't talk about the real experience, about 'only do something when you really want it', 'respect your partner's feelings', 'try to communicate enough'... I missed that part. Luckily enough, I'm (almost) a teacher now. And I will preach contraception. I've already made reading excercises about the label of the pill.

83 - Thank you. Your comment made my day :) 91 - you'll be a great teacher!

Haha do as i say, not as i do? Yeah, theres a word for that, i think its hypocrisy. Proving the point even more.

91 Not all American schools are like this, mainly in red states (conservative) do they preach abstinence only, but in many other schools, you get a full Sex Ed education. My 9th grade health teacher was a major bitch, but I'm grateful that she even brought in people from free/low cost sexual health clinics to teach us on extra forms of birth control and about Plan B.

And this is what improper sex education does. You don't know how to use a condom but you don't know what to do with the sexual urges. Recipe for stupidness. She deserves it, but I can't blame you for laughing.

Yet again... What if the teacher was raped? She probably wouldn't air her dirty laundry by having the principal announce something like that. I've heard of rape victims who don't believe in abortion because they feel it's taking the life of an innocent.

Not really 103. It happened to one of my best friends but because it's obviously a personal subject, she didn't want to announce to the whole school that she was raped, so everyone just called her a **** because they jumped to conclusions.

missamazinggg 12

I'm pretty sure if she was raped, she would of just resigned and the principal wouldn't make a big deal and call everyone to the auditorium. Bring raped changes you and you'd do anything to not have attention.

Funny coming from a "misses" named MicahsMommy...

Even though being raped does change everything, I've known plenty of people who put on a brave face. Telling the principal "I was raped, I want to resign, blah, blah, blah" would be calling more attention to herself. Why would she quit her job? You don't know 100% that she wasn't raped. Everyone handles different situations differently. No two people are exactly the same. It's stupid to think that every single rape victim is going to react the same.

Don't have sex, because you will get pregnant. And die.

You could just abstain from detention and claim to have taken on board this life lesson from the demonstrated incompetence of others...

GetHardOrGoHome 7

Abstinence doesn't mean never having sex your entire life...

It never said she wasn't. I don't assume things

My boyfriend of 6 years disagrees with you but I honestly don't care about your opinions

Says the gender confused floating question mark.

There is nothing wrong with how she looks. How cruel is it to question a stranger's femininity and attractiveness on the internet? These comments will have an effect on how she feels, no matter how quick or throwaway your comments. You must be entirely physically perfect to be using yourself as a standpoint to judge others? Oh I see not.

But to get upset about what people who you'll never meet is another. If everyone here insulted me and called me horrendous names, it really doesn't matter. So if she gets butthurt over anonymous opinions on the internet, she's just looking for an excuse to be angry. That's how it all is.

GetHardOrGoHome 7

107- your right I am not mad though. I am a 25 year old woman with a great bf, who makes 87 thousand a year, owns three restaurants, and I am part of a cancer research foundation so yeah I don't think looks are the only thing that matter in life. To the people who are disrespectful, i would love to teach you guys about understanding how to respect others. Especially the kid that was 16 or something. I am almost 10 yrs older than you.

You don't have to be perfect to judge others..the truth will always be the truth...she's ugly

Hahahaha that's awesome. I would have done the same.

12- your picture, with the comment, makes me scared of nuns... ='(

Haha! I always get inappropriately hysterical!
