Totally worth it
I'd've done it too. So worth it, no matter how long the detention. Besides, how can that NOT be funny?
As a health teacher, I would be fired if I told my students anything other than abstinence. It sucks, because I don't believe that's the best thing to teach. And it isn't how I live my life. But if she allowed to teach other things, and doesn't. Then that's her problem.
You should probably look for a different school to teach... the one you have know seems to be suffering from a severe case of the stupid. Especially as a health teacher you should know that abstinence only education simply does not work and that only ignorant idiots would force you to use only that.
Idk if it has changed since I took health in the 8th grade (2004) but we (in Houston) got taught about all prevention techniques, teacher emphasized that the only 100% guarantee against pregnancy, STDs, whathaveyou, was abstinence but she also discussed condoms (both male and female) and all other contraceptives, their percentage and their overall how-to-use. She gave us a chart with all the info.
That's..for a lack of a better word, weird. I took health class last year and she gave us more if a neutral view on it, just giving us the facts. We didn't even talk about abstinence all that much. I don't remember her really enforcing it at all. She made it known that it was the only way to 100% prevent STDs and pregnancy, but talked about all the other methods...Maybe Vermont just doest care about it's health education. Lol.
Amazing, not teaching anything but abstinence sounds quite backwards, sexual ed was very important and mandatory when I was in High School. She must be an unpleasant and prude teacher too, if she being pregnant made you laugh so much, the irony, however she is an adult so perfectly normal to decide to get pregnant. I do not understand the detention though either. What a medieval school system we have in some states, quite messed up!
My sex ed teacher in middle school was a self described "virgin" who preached abstinence but had also gotten an abortion.
You can actually go through a ceremony to become a 'born again' virgin. I know. I'm scared too.
OP doesn't have all the facts. The teacher could've been raped and decided not to abort the baby, as it's not the child's fault. But if the teacher was just out having a good time and being hypocritical...then it's a ****** up situation.
You've said this a billion times already :/
I've said it three times, including this comment. Doesn't change the fact that it IS a possibility.
Worth it! Wtg OP

If that were me in that situation, given the irony, I'd regret absolutely nothing.
Don't have sex. YOU WILL GET PREGNANT AND DIE!
