Hey Everyone, OP here. Thanks for all the support and making me laugh. Luckily he hadn't taken anything of value, although he had taken my shoes(ridiculous, I know). I was walking home from my job because my bike was also stolen. Again, FML. I had accidentally left my wallet at my house which is lucky for once. After being stabbed, someone had seen me bleeding, so they called 911. I'm no longer in the hospital as the wound wasn't serious, so I'm doing slightly better. Again, Thanks for the support.

Concealed carry permit is what you needed
You should have just said join me and then you guys would have laughed, then cry, and then die a little inside... The end.

You need a Swiss Army knife
If possible I would get a 9mm. They're pretty easy to conceal and it would teach and thug a lesson about stealing.
Damn I'm just glad you're okay.
No, that is such a bad idea oh my god. Anyone who is not trained should never have weapons. It's statistically more likely that the attacker would turn it on the person trying to defend themselves, or they would accidentally hurt themselves. And I'm not trained with weapons, I don't have them, I'm not saying this because I think I'm a badass and only I can have weapons or something.
I was told you should always carry about $10-20 on you just for this reason. They get money so they aren't as angry for wasting time mugging you and you don't really lose that much. No idea if it's true though. Glad you're okay!
Obviously if you buy one for protection you would goto a range and practice. The NRA has free programs for teaching people how to properly handle and care for their firearms.
Damn, you were having a bit of a day. Glad to hear it wasn't as bad as it could have been.
#76 so you were told to carry money to give the muggers what they want? At least in OPs case, they didn't get what they had hoped for.
Sounds like the advice always given to women who are being raped: don't fight back, go along with it and seek help immediately after, because if you resist they will be more likely to injure you more severely. Honestly, I think both pieces of advice have their hearts in the right place but are not sound.
@hacksaw guns are already creating more problems than solving them and you think it's a good idea to have more people carry guns? No, that's a horrible idea. I'm all for protecting yourself but there are so many better ways to go about it. Get a Swiss army knife, take a self-defense class, carry pepper spray. A gun should never be the answer for protection for things like this. If you know someone is threatening/after your life, I could see it, especially if you keep in your house or you went through something traumatic and it makes you feel safer but getting a gun for a mugging seems way over dramatic and not the right way to handle the situation.
@rosebudx: Yeah I agree with you. A lot of this advice just tells to roll over and take it. I'd be more depressed afterwards knowing that I could have and should have done something about it. Honestly I'd rather go out fighting. I want my dad to know that even if I lost the battle, the suspect will be scratched up from head to toe, he will be a bruised hot shitty mess and they will find his skin cells under my finger nails. I will give it my all.
time to get out the hood bro
Atleast You didn't get stabbed after he took Your money. Look on the bright side. It could always be worse.
I think you need to read the FML again.
Are you one of DocBastard's patients? He recently had a person who was stabbed and broke. The guy only had a lottery ticket.
Sadly, I am not, although I do feel bad for him
Guess he was only muggin you for practice.
if he only had a knife why didn't you just kick him in the balls? then stomp on his throat. i bet you start carrying something to defend yourself from now on.
ive been stabbed a couple times....it sucks
that is... slightly worrying? a couple of times? Damn, shouldn't even be once lol

Should've apologized and offered to give him a free back rub, of course. Don't you know simple mugging etiquette OP?
Jesus Christ OP. Sorry you had to go through that. Sending you love x
