Today, nine months after changing my entire life when my father had a stroke and I became his carer full time, I called my sister to talk about some his irrational behavior. All I got in response was, "I just watched a sad movie, I can't deal with this right now." FML

Personally, I don't find this funny at all, and a lot of these comments are actually sickening. Depression isn't just having a bad day, you can't just "man up" or "pull your dick out from between your legs" and get over it. Don't make fun of or insult the OP if you don't understand the condition at all. My guess is, your sister probably didn't know how to respond - if she truly didn't care, then she really is a heartless bitch

I've been suicidal for months, and I'll say that every time I talked about it with a friend or psychologist/psychiatrist, they all took me very seriously. I often felt that one sure way to actually get me to jump off the bridge by my dorm (this was my plan) was for anyone to imply that he didn't think I was serious.
