I am a hair dresser, and although we don't make as much as a doctor would, you can still make alright money with it. Plus its a wonderful job to have if you are planning on going to school for an even higher paying job, which is what I'm doing. And for being such a snob about careers, I hope your hair gets butchered next time you get it done
YDI dude....maybe your sister wants a job that makes good money and allows for good conversation and real human interacting (like being a hair dresser) instead of a judgemental stuck up prick who has no one to talk to but his "patients". ydi for judging your sister instead of standing behind everything she does!
You should just want your sister to be happy , I hope she makes it big and shoves her cash down your throat, duche.
sure, it's nice for his sister to be happy, but as her brother i'm pretty sure he wants his sister to aspire more than simply being a hair dresser. it might make her happy, but it's not very smart to rest one's life on a job that just about anyone can do and has little to no stability. i understand the people that are doing cosmetics and are successful with it, but you guys aren't the majority. the vast majority of people i know that have taken that route (and there are lots as people in my area rarely go on to college) aren't successful. just because it has worked out for you is no reason for him to not want something a bit more reliable for his sister.
I'm going to be a cosmetologist. They make decent amounts. Go get hit by a train ****. (:
and if he survives you can show him the perfect products to hide the bruising
i actually had that almost exact conversation with my doctor.. he asked me if i was going to school I said yes, then he started on a rant about how working solely with your hands is a dumb decision and he looks down on anyone that does, then he asked me what i was going to school for, and I replied Cosmetology.
wow beauty school is not worthless. someone has to cut and color hair and do nails and everything else. there is no worthless job because someone has to do it. not every person in this ******* country can be and/or wants to be a doctor or lawyer. YDI for being a judgmental prick. get over yourself
No one had to do it, hell I plan on not going to one. It is only a thing because people are vain and, in my Opinion, jobs that exists only for people's vanity is a stupid job. It is also in my opinion that iPhones are too small, damn thumbs.
wow, I'm a hair dresser and make a TON of money, and my boss owns the salon and makes around 6 MILLION a year cause he owns 4 salons. people don't give us enough credit, we work hard but are paid very well for it

I've been doing hair for 10 years now and make quite a bit more money than most of my friends who have "professional" jobs. Next time you're getting your own hair done why don't you take a moment to ask your stylist about the Anatomy and Physiology, Chemistry, and Electricity classes he/she had to take before you write it off as a "worthless qualification".
First off, you can make good money in hair. Women are vain, men are vain, and everyone is willing to pay to look good. And before you write it off as worthless, why don't you cut someone's hair, and see how it turns out? While I would never go into hairdressing, I would never deem it worthless... otherwise my hair would look like crap. Second off, you should ALWAYS know what your patients work in before complaining. It avoids insulting them. Third off... your patients are NOT paying you to complain. Do your job, be cheerful, and listen to THEM complain. Fourth off... I hope your hairdresser never hears you think low of him. You may never look acceptable again.
